Cody Baker Is Growing Up….Fast!

Cody Baker is already a veteran race car driver.  Starting with go-karts at 8, Cody advanced to Jr. Micro-Sprints when he was 9.  Racing at Sweet Springs Raceway in Sweet Springs, MO., Cody finished second in points and received Rookie of the Year honors.  The following year Cody was the Jr. Sprint Track Champion and finished 9th in the NMMA National Points.

In 2004 Cody advanced to the Restrictor class where he finished 3rd in the point standings and was voted Most Improved Restrictor Class Driver.  Cody again finished 3rd in the points in 2005 and finished in the top ten nationally both years.  In 2006 Cody finished 2nd in the Point Standings and received the Sportsmanship Award.  Competing in races all over the Midwest including Illinois, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma, Cody also won the 2006 NMMA National Restrictor Class Championship.

In 2006, 13 year old Cody also graduated to full size 305 Sprint Cars. Competing against drivers 16-60 he won in just his third feature start at Butler, Missouri. Winning 2 more features at Butler that year he also finished 6th in the 305/360 Sprint Feature at the Valley Speedway Fall Shootout at in Grain Valley, MO.

2007 Cody finished 2nd in the Non-Wing Class point standings and 4th in the A-Stock Class winning Rookie of the Year honors for that class.  Competing the Micro-Sprint at I-70 Speedway in October, he won the Multi-Class feature and finished 2nd in the Non-Wing Class feature.

He continued to race his 305 Sprint at Butler winning 2 of 5 features and finished 5th in his only visit to Lebanon Midway Raceway.  Competing in the 305 Nationals at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., Grandpa and car owner Ted Hall hoped to “make the show”.  In one of the most exciting races of his career, he won his heat race, finished 2nd in the qualifier race and finished 3rd in the feature.  Cody then competed in two Odessa, Mo.,  I-70 Speedway non-wing 305/360/410 sprint car features in October where he won his first heat and finished 6th in the feature.

2008 Cody made his 360 debut at Lake Ozark Speedway. He also won 2 non-wing features at I-70 speedway.

2009 proved to be an exciting year. Cody competed in multiple 360 and 305 events around the region. He won the 360 Sprint car track championship at Lake Ozark Speedway, making him the youngest sprint car driver to earn this honor.

2010 Cody will continue to run Dave Long's 360 at Lake Ozark speedway along with select 360 events in Grandpa, Ted Hall's 360 sprint car. He will also appear in the 305 winged and nonwing races at Grain Valley, Missouri along with his sister; Casey Baker.

Cody had a great year at Lake Ozark Speedway. He consistantly finished in the top 5, drove smart races to avoid DNF's and picked up the top prize of 2009 360 Sprint Track Champion and was voted most popular driver by his dedicated fans.
